UNTITLED FIGURE,
UNNAMED FUGUE

“UNTITLED FIGURE, UNNAMED FUGUE” is crafted as a dinner party of senses-as-memories. Audiences slip across the worlds of our protagonist, who is embodied by all twelve performers. Together, we swing through time on a pendulum of potential; like line on a fishing reel, the next wave lapping onto shore, or the promise of time well spent.

Organized as a collection of twelve memories-as-moments, “1-11” is performed live for multiple seatings of small audiences, while “12” is screened in a separate space.

“1-11” is a 20-minute performance that laps against the shores of past and present. The audience joins Figure, the protagonist, inside her experience of being two places at - present enfolded in past. Time and setting are crafted via a group of performers who use etchings of furniture to transport audiences out to sea, home to dinner, amid conflict, and beside lovers. Involving movement, sound, and text, “1-11oscillates within the internal experiences, memories, and conversations that are constantly co-composing Figure’s life.

“12” is a film and installation that is both end and beginning for UNTITLED FIGURE, UNNAMED FUGUE. Moment loops along mobius as memory meets past, present, and future. Audiences take on Figure’s point of view as she navigates her shared and shifting engagement with the world. Of all the selves we will ever be, who bears the brunt, who takes responsibility, who enjoys the harvest?
